I'm a descendant of William B Scates. He also participated in The Battle of Velasco in 1832; fought in the siege and capture of Bexar; served with the Sabine Volunteers and fought at The Battle of San Jacinto; and served on the committee that approved the existing Lone Star flag design. Reburied in 1929 in the Texas State Cemetery.
Just wish I'd come across this post before the March 2011 anniversary event.

I am a descendant of Benjamin Franklin Collinsworth, brother of James Collinsworth. James died without issue so there were no descendants as did their brother, Col. John T Collinsworth-Inspector General, in service of the Army of Texas in 1837 at Camp Independence. Capt. George M Collinsworth and his brother Lt.David C Collinsworth (killed by Indians after the capture of the Presidio LaBahia at Goliad) were cousins.
